For those of you that don’t know, we had to move and haven’t been able to close on the house we want yet so we have put most everything we own into storage and have moved in with family until we can close on this house.  {Latest update, they countered our offer for lower…who does that??  But ok}  I guess that comes with trying to buy a short sell house and in the end it will be so worth it!!

But most of my crafting supplies are packed away in storage.  I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to you guys for sticking with me during this time.  Especially as I don’t have a lot of great crafty tutorials to post.

But I am still doing Book Club, and I am still running the monthly blog design giveaway, and I have some great new series coming up and some AWESOME guest bloggers.

However, since my biggest crafting tool right now is my laptop, I will probably be doing a lot of digital design for you guys.  I like printables.  I hope you do too.  And once I get settled you can bet I will have a TON of tutorials as we get the house situated and decorated {and I’m itching to get back at it}  So thank you thank you for sticking in there with me.

And here is a printable for you all:

A Blogtastic Extravaganza 2.0 is here!!

Welcome, Welcome, I’m so excited to welcome all you new followers from A Blogtastic Extravaganza!! I could go on and on here but lets get to the reason you are all here….to win some FABULOUS prizes!!

My prize package is called GETTING BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS!!

School is starting so it’s a good time to get back into the swing of things. Long lazy days of summer and family vacations are coming to a close.  Now we can focus on getting kids back to school and working on our blogs.  Since I am such a proponent of anything that will help families and anything that will help bloggers, I knew I had to have some of each for this giveaway.

  • Item #1

Profitable Blogging for Beginners Class from Blogelina

I’m sure you have all heard of Blogelina {and if you haven’t, where have you been?}.  This class is a $100 value and Blogelina has given us 3 seats to give away!!  These classes teach you how to make your blog profitable.  It’s personalized attention where you can get your questions answered.  The information is invaluable but that is not all you get. The class manual comes with over 60 pages chock full of information and references for you.  But what I am MOST excited for is:  with this class, you get a year of FREE webhosting!!  That’s an $84 value!!  For those of you that don’t know, web hosting is so so so important for your blog!!!  There are many reasons why you want a self hosted blog but basically it puts you in control of your blog.  You own all your content and you are not subject to the restrictions that come with free blogging platforms {i.e. blogger or other places that give you a free blog}   I can’t imagine how I would feel if I spent so much time building my blog and my followers and then just had it turned off.  I would loose everything.  That is why web Hosting is important.

This class is $100 value but they only charge $10 for the whole package.  If you only did this to get your web hosting for a year {$84 value} it would be a huge deal!!  But you get all their knowledge teaching you how to make your blog profitable!!  I am SO going to sign up myself.  Click here to check it out yourself.

A great tutorial from J and M’s eye Candy

I am so excited for this tutorial.  This is a great idea that I wouldn’t have thought of!!  Leave it to Kristine and Brittney.  These guys are super talented!!  So without further ado, their great tutorial:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Measured by the Heart Readers!
It is us again from J&M’s Eye Candy Blog and Shoppe!
We are so happy to be back here, this time to share a fun and easy tutorial for you.  I am all about headbands lately.  My hubbie calls it my “hippie look” my grandma calls it the “flower child look” and she would know (wink wink) but whatever you want to call it, it is totally in and I am totally digging it.  Today I am going to share a very simple way to sport your own hippie look.  (BTW the hippie look works best when you don’t wash your hair, or even do it!)  Now you know why I love it so much! For this headband all you will need is scraps of felt, a sewing machine and elastic. I measured my head from ear to ear to figure out how long a needed to make my felt shape strip. Cut out shapes from your felt.  I chose circles and circles, but you can chose whatever makes you smile.  I am imagining butterflies, hearts, flowers even triangles!  The possibilities  are endless.  I traced the shapes on my felt pieces then cut them out.
Next send them through your sewing machine.  Try to leave as little space between each shape with out over lapping them at all.
When your strip of felt is as long as you need it to be, sew a piece of ribbon to each end.  You could also use elastic, whatever is more comfortable on your head.
Viola!  Now go and sport your very own hippie look proudly!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

See I told you it was awesome!!  I can see many possibilities here.  You guys have to go visit J and M’s eye candy and their shoppe.  Then make this headband.  And let me know how yours came out!!

My Tips for a great Vacation

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

You guys probably don’t know that I LOVE to travel!!  It is one of my absolute favorite things to do.   I think it’s important to Make Memories with my family.  Taking time to be together, just us, exploring new places, there is nothing like it.  I really need to blog more of travel related posts.

Today I am excited to introduce you to Branson Mo. and give you 3 tips for a great vacation:

Take advantage of great package deals.

The Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing and the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel currently have a not to be missed package.  The Branson Best Value Package gives you deluxe accomadations at either hotel, Two adult and two childrens tickets to the Legend of Kung Fu show at the White house Theater, Two adults and two childrens 2 day passes to Silver Dollar City (R), a $25 gift card for shopping and a $25 gift card for dinner at Level 2 Steakhouse.  On top of all that, your 3rd night is free.

Hiltons of Branson

Pack the right shoes

This one is crucial.  Almost every vacation requires lots of walking.  Branson is no different.  With an Historic Downtown District, an international award-winning theme park, great shopping and dining and live performance theaters, your feet will hit the pavement.  Especially if you go to the amusement park.  I learned this one the hard way at Disneyland.

We left the snow and cold and went on vacation.  I was so happy to get to sunny California and break out the summer clothes.  I threw on my flip flops and forgot that my feet weren’t used to wearing them.  I got big blisters on the first day and had to deal with hurting feet the whole time.  It definitely didn’t ruin the trip but take it from me, wear broken in shoes.  I know you got some super cute new shoes that will look AMAZING in your vacation photos.  It’s not worth it.  Trust me.

Don’t forget to use the sunscreen

I know you want that I just back from vacation glow.  But you are not used to how strong the sun can be in these new locations.

hawaii vacation

This picture is from Hawaii {one of our favorite, favorite places.}  We slathered on the sunscreen every hour and a half as directed.  We got the strongest we could find and of course the waterproof kind.  But still we ended up with a little bit of a sunburn.  Just enough to bug us.  I cannot imagine what it would have been like if the girls or me or the hubbs got a major burn.  So take precautions here.

There you have it.  A great place to visit and a great deal.  Plus some tips to make your traveling experience better.  Would you like to see more traveling posts?  Things like places to visit and things to do there.  I can also give some tips for getting great travel deals from a former airline insider.  If you’d like to see more travel tips let me know in the comments section.
