Disney countdown

Hey everyone. I know I have been posting a lot about Disney lately. That’s not going to let up because we are counting down to our first Disney cruise!! We are SUPER excited and are doing lots of crafty stuff to get ready for it.

I think a fun essential part to a vacation is the excitement and anticipation of it.  Our girls talk about it all the time.  We ordered the cruise planning dvd and watched that as a family.  We have also searched you tube and found tons of videos on the cruise.  It also helps that I am a traveling mom now.  One of my fellow moms is on the Disney moms panel and she actually is the Disney Cruise line mom.  She has given me tons of tips.  {My girls think it’s awesome that I know the person in the Disney cruise line videos.  She’s a mini celebrity to them.}

To keep the aniticipation and excitement high, we made a little countdown.

Here is a close up

{My youngest started calling it Mickey’s boat and it evolved to Disney boat from there}

I just cut up some vinyl and personalized it by using a Disney font and the Mickey shapes. I love having it on my chalkboard.  My girls like to change the days as the cruise gets closer.  {Thankfully this pic was taken a while ago so we don’t have that long to wait}

For us, this is a fun way to get everyone involved and excited for the upcoming vaca. But you could use a countdown like this for anything.  Birthdays, holidays, first day of school etc.  You can also reuse the countdown since it’s on chalkboard, just erase and rewrite what you are counting towards.

Thanks for reading!!

  1. Hi Connie,

    Thanks for stopping by today – following you back. LOVE the chalkboard! :)

  2. So exciting! We are also going on a Disney Cruise, just a short one.
    We are leaving for the Disney Resort on April 30th until may 10th then going on the 3 night cruise from May 10th to the 13th. We are super excited as well.
    What are you “must know” pointers for the cruise?

    • Sarah,
      I have tons of tips. Let’s see we had a conference call this morning with Andi {the cruise line specialist} some things she said were that your day bag should contain everything you need for day one because it’s possible you may not get into your cabin until dinner time. I found the Open house hours at the kids clubs might be something we have to watch carefully. Are you aware of them? I’m trying to think of everything that might be helpful for you. I have also gotten a lot of information from Disboards. Be sure to check them out and sign up for your cruises fish extender. I am so so excited for ours!! What questions do you have? I am having a hard time guessing what might be important to you. Oh Andi said if you are on one of the newer higher capacity ships to get to the port early and castaway cay also. Do you online checkin as soon as you can so you can get an early arrival time. Let me know what other questions you have and I can answer or track down an answer for you.

  3. I can just imagine how excited the kids are about this cruise! Have a wonderful time.

  4. Sounds so much fun! We went on a Disney cruise last May and had a blast – you will have a great time! :]

  5. Hi, Connie! I am so excited for you and your first Disney cruise. I’m also “jealous” that you are friends with a Disney mom panel mom! I am on the panel EVERYDAY, seriously. As soon as we book our trip to WDW, I’m on the panel everyday. We’re gearing up for our fourth trip to WDW in June, and we can’t wait! I would LOVE if you’d consider guest posting in June for me, when we’re on our Disney vacation. I know you have a lot to think about, with your cruise and all, but please consider it. Also, so glad to have found you on Bloglovin’. I”m following you there now.

  6. So glad I found you! Our family loves Disney, too. We are going on our second trip to Disneyland in June. Like you, I am preparing now, with all kinds of fun surprises. I am going to subscribe so I can keep up with your Disney fun!

  7. Such a cute idea! Don’t you just love Disney countdowns? Have fun on the boat. I am a new Pinterest follower visiting from Sugar Bee Crafts. Vicky from Mess For Less
