I have a pretty dark mantle. And that’s ok because it is full of things I love. But it wasn’t very cheery. It’s perfect for fall but I wanted to lighten it up for Spring. So I made a pinwheel banner to go across it.
Ahhh…so much better. You can download the Love is spoken here printable to use in your home.
Want to learn how to make pinwheels so you can make one? Here we go.
Step one:
Cut a square out of patterned paper. You can make big or small pinwheels doesn’t matter so size it however you want. It just needs to be square.
As you can see my edge is curling up. That’s ok because we will fold it anyway.
Step 2:
I like to go around the edges of my square with decorative scissors or just ruffle it yourself. This step is optional.
Step 3:
Cut a diagonal line from each corner into the center. You want to leave a space in the center about the size of a quarter. It doesn’t have to be exact.
Step 4:
You have now cut your square into four sections. You will take one corner from each section and fold it into the middle. Secure it down. I used hot glue. You want to fold a corner skip a corner all the way around.
Now you have a cute pinwheel.
Glue something into the center to make it cuter. You can use sequins, buttons, rhinestones etc.
These are very cute with double sided paper. But I also like the touch of white. I LOVE how it brightened up my mantle.
Do you like it as much as I do?

It’s adorable… I’ve had pinwheels in my mind lately… I want them in the orchard, as I thought it would be a cute way to keep birds away from my fruits…
