Creamy Avocado Mac and Cheese

creamy avacodo mac and cheese

I saw this recipe the other day from Two peas and their pod.  Immediately I was intrigued and thought Oh YUMMY!!  Turns out it is easy and versatile too.  Avacado Mac and Cheese.  Who would've thought? Let me tell you it is spectacular!!  You don't really taste avocado.  It just adds creaminess.  My daughter that has a tiny appetite and never eats seconds went back twice.  It is that good!!  It will be the creamiest Mac and Cheese you have ever had. How to spray paint an upholstered chair

Measured by the Heart: chair before spray paint

I have these chairs.  I've had them for a while.  I love how comfortable they are {made by lazyboy} but they are not the cutest.  See what I mean: They are ok but a little plain.  I was thinking of recovering them but they are harder to do.  They are not your basic take off the seat, stretch fabric, staple and be done.  They would require sewing and fitting exactly right and I just didn't want to tackle that. I have been reading lots of posts lately about people painting everything. … [Read more...]

How to make your own gum + giveaway

Measured by the Heart - a DIY creative blog: How to make your own gum

We got the opportunity to make our own gum with Glee Gum. It was lots of fun.  As we were making it my oldest daughter said, "you know mom this is science."  I love fun educational activities. My second grader took all the pictures.  She was excited to do it so I just let her have at it.  I think she did swell. Making your own gum is definitely a process.  It's not something you can give your kids to do on their own.  An adult needs to be involved.  But that's ok.  You can talk … [Read more...]

My sweet girls go to year round school so they are still in class until the end of June.  Then they go back July 25th.  {I know it's sad now, but having 3 weeks off in Sept. and again in Jan. is so nice!!}  Since I can't really plan a ton of fun summer outings with my girls, I decided to give our house a summer makeover.  Starting with our front door.  I wanted to brighten it up and let summer greet you first thing when you come over. Home tour-First floor

first floor home tour

Hello everyone.  I recently posted our home story and today I am following it up with our Home tour. Let me first say that this is a preliminary tour.  I do not have things decorated and finished the way I want it yet.  There is much to do.  Also, we do live in our home so you may see evidence of that. I have been nervous to post this because it is hard to convey the floor plan in pics.  Or maybe I am just not that great of a photographer.  But I am learning.  When I see home tours, I … [Read more...]

first floor home tour

Remember the roller coaster ride that was us buying our home?  You dealt with the craziness and me being absent from the blog.  You were so supportive.  I can't thank you enough.  Now I am finally sharing the story of our home.  This post is long with a lot of writing.  The process took 8 very long months and it was complicated.  So the story is long too.  I hope you enjoy it. We knew we wanted certain things in our forever home.  Our middle daughter "Laughter" was in a Chinese … [Read more...]
