Dyed drop cloth rug

drop cloth rug done

I was so excited to get a package in the mail from Tulip Tie Dye.  Who doesn't love getting fun stuff in the mail?  Here's what I got: The dye itself came in applicator bottles.  I loved that because you didn't have to worry about spills.  You add the water to it when you are ready.  I also got plastic gloves, rubber bands, dye refills and a booklet with helpful instructions.  Everything you need to get dyeing. I have been wanting to do a drop cloth rug for a while now so I jumped at … [Read more...]

Crocheted chevron blanket

crochet chevron pattern.

I have been getting back into crochet lately.  I love how I can sit and crochet without getting involved in a huge messy project.  It's my end of the day activity before I fall asleep.  I also love using crochet around the house.  I think it gives that textural element.  Here is my most recent project. I really love how this came out.  This pattern is based on a ripple afghan.  To update it, I wanted to make the chevrons taller and more pointed.  So it was more of a true chevron and … [Read more...]

copycat recipe chilis southwest eggrolls

I love appetizers!  Anyone else with me?  I sometimes order an appetizer as my meal.  Chili's southwest eggrolls are one of my favorites.  I am not getting paid to say this, just love them!  I was trying to knock them off and make them at home and I think they came out great. These are yummy!!  I smashed up an avocado and put some ranch with it for dipping.  They are not the healthiest because they are fried.  I don't make them that often but they are great as a special … [Read more...]

Educational crafts for preschoolers

educational crafts

When my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten, we would do her homework everyday.  We worked on sounding out words and putting letter sounds together.  When my second daughter started Kindergarten, I noticed that she didn't need that kind of help.  She could already smoosh sounds together.  I am no expert but I think it is because she was always around when I was doing this with her sister.  If it had been her homework or a required task for her, I'm sure she would have resisted.  So I am … [Read more...]

measuredbytheheart.com: guest bath

I love having visitors come visit.  I wanted to get my bathroom makeover done before they arrived.  So I decided to start with paint.  I got the cutest blue aqua color and one morning I just went after it. Quick and easy present for a girl

cute quote for girls

I went to a birthday party for my niece a little while ago.  She was doing a mystery night and we all had parts and costumes etc.  In all the getting ready preparations, I might have spaced that this was a birthday party.  So I needed a last minute present. I love putting up inspirational quotes for children to see daily.  As a little reminder.  For her I wanted something that could influence her for good but that she wouldn't think was corny.  I think I did ok. I sprayed the frame … [Read more...]
