How I fixed the biggest bathroom fail ever.

I love having visitors come visit.  I wanted to get my bathroom makeover done before they arrived.  So I decided to start with paint.  I got the cutest blue aqua color and one morning I just went after it.

Want to see how it turned out? {look closely}

bad paint

If you follow me on instagram {username is measuredbytheheart} you have seen this pic already.  When the walls got wet, the blue from the paint just ran down the walls.  It was so bad.  I’m not sure exactly why and it didn’t separate cleanly either.  If I painted over the top, the liquid in the paint mixed with the blue and ran and colored the paint in this splotchy blue.  Such a nightmare!!

I talked to the paint people and they suggested using paint stripper to get the old paint off the walls.  I did NOT want to take that project on.  So I decided to grab a high quality bonding primer.  We picked the one that said it sealed in bad walls.  And I painted.  And painted.  Then painted some more.  I think I ended up with 11 coats.  But I was able to seal in those BAD walls.

It is hard taking pics of bathrooms.  They are generally small spaces.  This one is large for a 1/2 bath but you just can’t get in the right angle to get a pic of the whole thing.  So excuse these pics.  Let’s just say I love my guest bath now!!

I knew one of the things I needed for guests to visit was more towel storage.  This bath had only one circle hanger for a hand towel.  I wanted something that was a little different and not just your standard towel bar.  So I went looking.

I love the quirkiness of these hooks.  Now everyone can have their own towel.  Which is important with guests.
