Easy Homemade Taco Salad Bowls

I love a good taco salad.  Actually I love tacos and burritos and nachos and all of it.  Have you ever tried to buy taco salad bowls from the store?  You get 4 tiny bowls for about $4.  Very expensive and you can’t be sure you aren’t bringing home a package of crumbs.  I have a much easier way to make your own at home.

Start with flour tortillas.  Then get out your mason jars.  You need one jar for each bowl you want to make.  Or you can make them in batches.  Stand your mason jars upside down in your baking dish and spray the tops of the bottles.

Then take your tortillas and mold them to the tops of the mason jars.

Then you bake these until they reach your desired crispiness.  After they are done to your liking, pull them out and take them off the jars.

Now you have a taco salad bowl to fill with your favorite fixins.

These are so yummy.  I make them at least once a week.  I usually make them in batches and it doesn’t take any time at all.  You can make these ahead and save them for later.  Just make sure you seal them up so they don’t go hard.

  1. Great idea! I use the microwave to do it too – it’s great for when it’s too hot here in So Cal to turn on the oven.
I just use a small glass mixing bowl instead of the mason jar.
