My home goals for 2013

I wanted to write down and share you with you all my home goals for 2013.  Basically a list of things that I would like to accomplish in the coming year.  I am hoping this will keep me accountable.  At the end of the year I can look back and see what happened.

*Completely finish one of my girls rooms*

I really want to completely finish and reveal a room makeover for one of my girls.  I have been pinning so many ideas for their room.  Here are a few of my favorites.  These pins and others can be found on my kids rooms board.

Raspberry & aqua nursery.. Love the colors!

I love the colors in this room.  So much!!

built-out window seats

Depending on which room I do, I would love to make a window seat.

*Finish the Master bedroom*

I’ll admit I have been putting this one off.  I need to find a couch and really decide on a design.  I keep going back and forth on what I want in there.  But I have some ideas on my Master bedroom pin board.

Love Ceiling: The blue gray color on this ceiling is similar to Farrow & Ball's Pigeon. And I know One Carpenter that can do just this.. So Beautiful

I really like the color scheme here.  And lots of  chunky white molding.  Wonder how hard it would be to do that ceiling?

*Make a coat rack for the front room*

One or maybe even two {we host a lot}  Something like this:

*Get a rug for the family Room*

Our family room is pretty big so I need a large rug.  I have been putting it off because I’m a cheapskate and large rugs are pricey.  So this year I am gonna keep a look out for a deal and get over myself.  I am also thinking maybe 2 smaller rugs.  We’ll see.

*Finish dining room*

The dining room doesn’t need much.  I either need to find a new buffet or keep my hutch.  Currently it looks like this:

Sometimes I want a new buffet and some days I love it as is.  It was the first furniture piece my hubby and I ever did.  We worked on it while I was pregnant with our first baby.  So it definitely holds sentimental value.

I am thinking I may want to change out the light fixture.  For sure it needs to move over so it can be centered.

The biggest thing in this room is the table and chairs.  I refinished them right before we moved here.  If you don’t remember our home story, we had to move from our old house but weren’t sure if we were going to get this one.  {we were trying to buy a short sell} So everything went into storage for 2 months.  We stuffed 2 storage sheds full.  They were stacked to the ceiling.  The chairs and table rubbed against things for 2 months and when we got them out of storage they were a mess.  So I need to do something with the table and chairs.

*Make some kind of mud room*

We are in desperate need of mud room storage.  Currently our mud room has hooks on the wall where we hang backpacks/coats and that is it.  Shoes go in a huge pile on the floor.  I want some kind of  built ins or lockers or something.  Maybe something like this:

*Paint the downstairs bathroom*

The downstairs bathroom makeover stalled.  I had a huge problem with the paint dripping off the walls in there.  So I got it somewhat ok and then left it.  I need to touch up and finish the makeover in there.

So that’s it.  My home goals for 2013.  Time to get going.

  1. Love your goals. I had the same dining room problem with dark bulky dining chairs around dark table. Please, check how I solved it. http://pinterest.com/pin/136163588703939240/
BTW love your china cabinet and I will paint mine lighter color.

    • I like what you did with your table. I really like dark wood and white paint together. I like the high contrast and femininity of it. Thanks for sharing!!
