Utah’s own Fry Sauce recipe {dipping sauce}

I grew up in Germany.  Spent my elementary school years there.  When we came back to Utah, everyone was dipping their fries in what they called Fry sauce.  Turns out it is a Utah thing.  And it is SO YUMMY!!  Fry sauce isn’t just for fries, it is a great all purpose dipping sauce.

If you haven't tried fry sauce, you should. It is so yummy and this recipe is so easy. Great dipping sauce.

Once you make this dipping sauce, you will never go back.  It’s incredibly versatile and you can’t mess it up.

The base is just ketchup and mayo mixed together.  In a 1 to 1 ratio.  You can just stop there if you want.  And that is a good dipping sauce but to make it really great, you need to step it up a notch.  You can add any one of these ingredients or more than one:

BBQ sauce

Hot sauce

Ranch

A few table spoons of pickle juice

A little bit of onion soup mix

My favorite is Ketchup, mayo and ranch dressing.  So good!

If you haven't tried fry sauce, you should. It is so yummy and this recipe is so easy. Great dipping sauce.

For dinner last night, I paired some fry sauce with Tyson chicken fries.  I had a busy day.  Running around doing errands all morning and then working in the yard all afternoon.  My sweet Samantha came out and asked to learn how to mow the lawn.  I taught her and she mowed the whole entire lawn.  Even though I came and asked her to let me finish several times.  I am lucky to have such an AMAZING daughter!!

After a busy day, the last thing I want to do is stand over a hot stove making dinner.  I LOVE a good toss it in the oven and walk away meal.  I have to say I was surprised how good these were.  I will DEFINITELY be buying these again!!

  2. Yum!! We are big Tyson chicken fans in my house. When I was in highschool, we would make that same sauce except we’d add mustard to it– you couldn’t eat fries without it!! So good! Thanks for the tips on other ingredients!! Way to go Samantha!! Good to see the mower works!

    Something I learned recently is that adding a touch of vinegar really takes it over the top. My favorite combo now is ketchup, mayo, and a bit of vinegar. It gives it an extra little something. I’m a Utah girl born and raised and I LOVE my fry sauce :)

  5. I love fry sauce! I grew up with it…southern Idaho. Which is pretty much Utah…where I live now. But, I remember the first time I went back east and asked for a side of fry sauce, they looked at me in such confusion…as I did with them! I thought every one knew about fry sauce!
