We all have Halloween celebrations this time of year. Maybe it is your kiddos class party. Or maybe you have a Halloween celebration at work or church. Either way these Halloween recipes will make your party more SPOOKY!
We went shopping for ingredients for our Halloween recipes and you should have seen my children’s eyes when I put these four items on the checkout stand.
You might remember I wrote earlier that we are trying out a new clean eating plan. So you might think um Connie what are you doing? But I do think it is important to still celebrate important occasions. And as long as you aren’t doing this everyday, go ahead and celebrate Halloween.
My Hubby loves Hawaiian Punch and he loves mixing 7up with punch. It gives it a little fizz. So of course we had to get some of that. To make it a little spooky, we mixed the two drinks together and added some unflavored gelatin. That is to thicken the drink a little.
I made the eyeballs out of radishes. Peel the skin off but leave little strips to represent the veins. Then cut out a little circle on the top and stuff half an olive in there. The red eyeball is a tiny slice of red pepper but you could use carrot or some of the radish skin. Whatever you have around. Thickening the drink and adding the eyeballs gives it that Halloween touch. You could also put these in ice cube trays and fill them with water. Once frozen you will have eyeball icecubes. If your insides don’t stay in, I would do the ice cubes. But mine worked great.
Next we made a graveyard cake.
Use your favorite chocolate cake and frosting. The graves are twix. They have these chocolate ridges on the tops of them that make them perfect for graves. Wonder if that is what they had in mind when they made Twix? Probably not lol. The tombstones can be any square chocolate. We used Snickers, Milky Way and Three Musketeers. I crumbled up some cake to look like dirt on the graves and used frosting to make the RIP letters. I was surprised how much this really looks like a graveyard. The Twix bars really do their job here.
For our last sweet treat, we made some spider cookies. This is the only time I will allow spiders in the house lol.
The cookies we made from a chocolate cake mix. You take your cake mix add a 1/2 cup butter and two eggs. Mix it up, form them into balls and the cook them. When they come out of the oven, while they are still hot, turn them over and put a chocolate candy on them.
We used Snickers, Milky Ways and 3 Musketeer bars. Because the cookie is still hot, it will melt the chocolate. Make sure and help children with this step. Once the chocolate starts to melt a little bit, Stick some black licorice into the candy for the legs. Top with another cake mix cookie and press to seal them together. I used M&Ms for the eyes.
We had so much fun creating these spooky Halloween Recipes. Do you guys celebrate Halloween? What kind of parties do you have planned? If you have any great Halloween Recipes, leave me a link.
