I love appetizers. They are perfect game day foods. I love that they are snacky finger foods that taste great. But you don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen whipping up gourmet appetizers for game day. You want to be in with your guests watching the
commercials game. So here’s a great solution that will give you upgraded appetizers without keeping you stuck in the kitchen.
Start with your favorite appetizers.
These are TGI Friday’s potato skins and chicken wings . I got mine in the freezer section at Walmart.
Make sure and catch a TGI Friday’s demo at Walmart 1/30/14-2/2/14.#TGIFGameDay #CollectiveBias
These frozen appetizers are great because you can just pop them in the oven and walk away. But let me give you secret to upgrading these appetizers.
It’s all in the sauce. Seriously. Have you ever watched cooking shows? They plate things up and then drizzle a sauce on top. It’s adds that little touch. Plus dipping sauces are great for appetizers.
Here is our chicken wings before:
These are fine right? The chicken looks good. But the presentation could be jazzed up a little. Save a little of the sauce and drizzle it on top and you get this:
Now that looks yummy! It’s a simple little trick that we like to use because presentation does make a difference.
For the potato skins I went with a little ranch.
Because everyone loves ranch. I make my own ranch and its so easy to do. Most of these ingredients you probably have in your pantry already. I make up a big batch of ranch seasoning and keep it on hand. Then when I want ranch dip I mix it with some sour cream. More details in the recipe below.
This is a really great seasoning mixture to keep on hand and it’s cheaper to make your own.
So tell me, do you serve appetizers on game day? Do you have any secrets to upgrade your game day food?
