Chalkboard and Blue graduation party

This post is sponsored by Tiny Prints and Resourceful Mommy Media.

Did you guys know that this is Samantha’s last year in Elementary school?  This is a big deal in our neck of the woods.  And I cannot believe my little girl is growing up so fast…when did that happen?

So of course, I had to plan a graduation party for her.  Want to know the secret to planning the best {and easiest} party?  Start with the invitations.  Pick invites from a quality place and everything else will fall into place.  I went straight to Tiny Prints Graduation Line.

Picking which cute design you want for your invitations will be the hardest part of your party prep.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Can you tell I really liked the shaped cards?  It took a while but I finally made a selection.

Here is the front:

You know I love Chalkboard right?  These invites are adorable.  I might be feeling a little sentimental about my first born growing up because here is what I did for the back:

There’s my little baby!

So now that you have the invitations done, the hard part is over.  You can pick your theme and colors based off the invite.  I went with a chalkboard and blue theme.  I also wanted to go with the shape of the card.  So I threw it in here and there.  I knew I was looking for black, white and blue when I was shopping.  It made things so easy.

I decided to do a big collage of Samantha for the wall.  I went with the little girl growing up or Samantha through the years theme from the invites.

I printed it up as an engineering print.  I think it cost me less than $4.  After the party, I am going to decoupage it to a board and put it in Samantha’s room.  I just love looking back and seeing her baby photos.  I knew the black and white would work perfectly with my color scheme.

I found some adorable black and white polka dot cupcake liners.

So I made vanilla pound cake cupcakes.  I used the cute shape from the card as a cupcake topper.  I made up some chalkboard printables with that shape.  They can also be used as gift tags.

Aren’t they cute?  Once I had the invites it all came together.  You can use these printables too if you want.

We also made lemon squares because they are a family favorite.

For the drink, I thought it would be fun to make chalkboard labels.

Guests could write their names on the labels and stick them to their glass.  Then they would know which one was theirs.

I used chalkboard vinyl and they peeled right off when the night was done.  I just free handed my shape and cut them out using scissors.

So what do you think…pretty cute and fun party?

And it all came from my graduation invitation.

  1. Hi

I love this party. Did you use a punch for the shaped chalk board toppers? Or did you cut them out by hand? I’m longing to find a punch in this shape. Any tips?

    Many thanks
