Overnight French Toast Casserole

overnight french toast casserole

My husband's favorite food is breakfast food.  He loves a good breakfast casserole.  This overnight french toast casserole is one of our favorites. Doesn't that look delicious?  It  tastes like a cross between French toast and bread pudding.  The pecan pralines give it a lovely crunch and are the perfect topping. What I love most about this casserole {besides the taste of course} is that it is a great make ahead meal.  You need to put it in the fridge for a while before it is baked. … [Read more...]

Utah’s own Fry Sauce recipe {dipping sauce}

If you haven't tried fry sauce, you should. It is so yummy and this recipe is so easy! Great dipping sauce.

I grew up in Germany.  Spent my elementary school years there.  When we came back to Utah, everyone was dipping their fries in what they called Fry sauce.  Turns out it is a Utah thing.  And it is SO YUMMY!!  Fry sauce isn't just for fries, it is a great all purpose dipping sauce. Once you make this dipping sauce, you will never go back.  It's incredibly versatile and you can't mess it up. The base is just ketchup and mayo mixed together.  In a 1 to 1 ratio.  You can just stop … [Read more...]

Funky Pretty Birthday Cake

I love the idea of a quirky but pretty birthday cake.

My daughter Emma had a birthday recently.  She requested a funky pretty birthday cake.  Which is so her.  She is quite girly but she also has a quirky side.  I tried to capture that in her cake. The outside is the funky part.  I used white frosting and piped it on in circles.  I used a big writing tip. It's the one that looks like a circle.  No points or star shapes.  Just a circle.  Then I filled in the holes with dots.  I didn't try to be too pretty or uniform or anything. The … [Read more...]

Strawberry Lemon Brownies

strawberry lemon brownies

I saw a recipe for Lemon Brownies on Simply Kierste and I was so intrigued.  I have always loved the texture and denseness of brownies.  But I never had heard of different flavor brownies.  Sure, brownies with stuff in them.  Brownies sundaes, I've seen all of that.  So a new flavor of brownie sounded yummy. The only thing I did differently was put strawberries on top.  I sliced them and soaked them in some sugar first.  These brownies came out amazing.  I loved the light yet dense … [Read more...]
