Handmade Christmas: Sock Monkeys

how to make a sock monkey

This was the very first project I worked on for Christmas.  I think they turned out so darling.  My girls have all requested one for themselves. I used knee high socks to make these.  Some fuzzy and furry and some not.I like them both equally.  These are pretty dang cute.  The fuzzy socks do help to hide your stitches a little easier however.  I got the Sock Monkey pattern from Craft passion.  Her tutorial is so great and complete that I am not going to do my own and just send you … [Read more...]

My daughter’s Baptism

bookie blog

A few weeks ago we had a special event in our family.  My daughter got baptized.  We couldn't be prouder of her decision.  It's been a tradition for us that my mother and I get together and make special dresses for my daughters.  We made their blessing dresses when they were newborns and we have made 2 baptism dresses so far.  {Don't worry, I don't think we will be making any wedding dresses}  I showed a sneak peak of this dress in my post about my mother.  And here is the official … [Read more...]

How to make a flat sheet into a fitted sheet

step 7_thumb[1]

So I was on the lookout the other day for some fitted sheets.  Guess what, you cannot find just a fitted sheet.  Ok let me rephrase that, you can find a fitted sheet in the 200 thread count itchy scratch sheets.  Once you get to 400 thread count or higher you can only find sets.  And believe me I went to 5 different stores looking.  So if you don’t need a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases, what are you to do?  Also, what do you do with all the flat sheets you have stacked in … [Read more...]

Cute skirt with a ruffle–{could be your Easter skirt}

    I have been thinking of Spring and Easter and wanted to make a cute skirt for my daughters.  Of course, once it was made I couldn’t wait till Easter to let her wear it.  Not to mention that she was there while I was making it.  And she was measured and she tried it on several times.   For the skirt base, you just need to cut out 2 large rectangles. Measure from your child’s waist down to where you want the length to hit.  Then add an inch.   … [Read more...]
